Sumario: Thyroid carcinoma is one of the most frequent diseases within the Ecuadorian population regarding cancer; and this statistic has been increasing over the years, is known that cancer is a multifactorial disease, genetic influence is of them. This is why this study seeks to associate genetic variants Ser734Ala and Arg1980Trp with the development and progression of cancer well differentiated in patients with cancer of thyroid in SOLCA Nucleo de Quito. A trial was conducted for this case-control of 50 patients of SOLCA and 50 volunteers from Ecuadorian mestizo population, using biological samples in paraffin and biopsies from fresh tumor of thyroid patients and for the control group used periferical blood, in order to study the exons 10 and 33 of the gene thyroglobulin (Tg), using amplification technique and after a digestion with restriction enzymes. The presence of the genetic variants of the gene TG, with pathologic features of thyroid cancer is also associated with the modulation of the environment factors of diseases. The proportions of the genotypes found in exon 10 polymorphism are: 9% normal homozygotes (Ser/Ser), 33% homozygous variants (Ala/Ala) and 58% heterozygous (Ser/Ala). The proportions are found in genotypes polymorphism of exon 33 are: 18% homozygous variants (Arg / Arg) and 82% heterozygotes. The results obtained through statistical Chi square test show not association between genetic variants of thyroglobulin gene in thyroid cancer. Among the environmental factors that modulate disease, sex and alcohol consumption is not associated with the disease, on the contrary age and consumption of snuff if present association with the incidence of thyroid cancer.
