The goal of this paper, "Summary of UNORCAC's Agroecological Fair 'Mother
Earth Feeds Us' 2013-2014" is to document the process by which the agroecological
fair was built. It was complimented by the implementation of agroecological family
gardens, which has permitted a revitalization of native crops to the region, promoted
the use of environmentally friendly ancestral techniques and the maintenance of
fertile lands, replacing the frequent use of chemical products that are toxic to
humans. This process has also empowered the women participants, increased their
income, and bettered the quality of families' food. This document can be a guide for
other organizations that would like to replicate this experience and integrate in their
communities a commercial economic activity that unites and organizes rural women
from the region who are dedicated to traditional agriculture. |
