Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) service is used to ensure quality control of welding. Welding is the main activity in the construction of the oil infrastructure. Radiographic Testing (Gammagraphy) and Liquid Penetrants are used in the construction of oil pumping stations. These stations serve to connect the pumps, pressure vessels, storage tanks, compressors and separators.
The Inspection Procedure with Gammagraphy is used for quality control of Groove Weld Butt Joints. It was developed from current practices analysis on Radin, which is dedicated to END. In this procedure, is showed the most important parameters to consider before taking the test, each one is detailed in didactic way and based on standards to improve the level of users of these techniques. The greatest contribution is quantitative, recommended values were collected by the manufacturers and standards for good practice.
The Inspection Procedure with Liquid Penetrants Testing is used for quality control of Fillet Welds in T and Overlap Joints, That is, it is used when Gammagraphy can´t be applied. Liquid Penetrants situation in Ecuador is critical, so the contribution to this issue has more emphasis on accuracy for the application of the parameters. Each essential variable was analyzed and deepened systematically in the use of standards, in order to make a compilation of criteria that might be of interest to companies.
The two written procedures were developed based on essential variables, established in ASME Code Section V, articles 2 and 6. |
