Sumario: The principal aim of this investigation is to obtain a methodology of calculation for the absorption of carbon in 11 sinks of the DMQ, hereinafter DMQ. The study proposes the obtaining of a not destructive methodology to evaluate the absorption of carbon, this information together with the carbon footprint they allow to have a notion of the balance sheet between emission and absorption of carbon in the DMQ. The emission in the DMQ is increasing year after year and there is not had a record of carbon they catch the green spaces in the city, it is for it, that the development of the study is vital for the obtaining of this information. The carbon footprint of the year 2015 was estimated by means of projection by substitute information being based on the emission of the year 2011, the population of the year 2011 and 2015. For absorption of carbon it was considered in method of change of stock and one was employed at 5 reservoirs recognized by the IPCC (air and underground Biomass, dead wood, verbiage and soil), in field measurements of the reservoirs were realized and in laboratory the samples of soil were analyzed. The sink with major content of biomass, roots to 10 cm of depth and verbiage was the Metropolitan Park Guangüiltagua, with regard to the content of dead wood the Metropolitan Park the Armenia possesses major quantity in volume and with regard to the content of carbon in soil the Metropolitan Park Huayrapungo presented major content with 50,84 mg/gr.
