Sumario: This work is part of a larger research carried out by the Salesian Polytechnic University, which is named after: "Cognitive development, quality of life and subjective perception of aging". The objective of this study is to know the subjective perception about aging, present in the group of older adults in the Barrio San Vicente de Yaruquí, in the period between April and July 2016. The subjective perception refers to the processes of meaning that are configured within the subject, the same ones that are constructed along the vital time in relation to social spaces and personal characteristics, all from a biopsychosocial-cultural and historical (Gonzalez, 2012). In order to unveil these subjective perceptions about aging, in these moments of their vital trajectories, the qualitative methodology was used, through focus groups, which allowed to highlight the discourses of the elderly, participants of this research. It identifies the presence of a marked tendency to perceive losses and gains during this time; Such is the case that, as a loss, the reduction of their physical capacity and vitality, as well as the changes in their family relationships, are markedly identified; While, as a profit, it identifies the acquisition of knowledge, which links them better with the community.
