Sumario: This article found an optimization model that allows to locate units Distributed Generation (DG) for improving the voltage profile in an electrical distribution system, it results reducing losses power and in turn increases the stability and reliability of the electrical system. The methodology considers a system of fifteen (15) buses with radial topology for the simulation of power flows, which in the first instance is not taken the incorporation of the GD and the results are used to evaluate the system before optimization. Subsequently, applied a mathematical model, which aims to raise the system voltage profile, minimizing the difference between the voltages of each node and a value desired reference voltage; the model is required to comply technical constraints using linear and nonlinear programming. The optimization model to choose the location of the GD by decision variables, its resolution will be made through the not linear integer mixed programming using the General Algebraic Modeling System (GAMS).
