Sumario: The present project consists of determining the influence of corrosion in the mechanical propierties of profile G 100X50X15X2 used for roof beams, this investigation allows to understand the importance of the use of anticorrosives in the structural profiles. The research is composed of the following: Chapter one describes the different national companies that manufacture the G -type profiles and their most common uses, definitions and types of corrosion, ways to avoid deterioration of the material and coatings commonly used in national industry. Chapter two describes the experimental theory, the different types of materials, equipment and standards used to perform and analyze in the best way the changes produced by the corrosion of the profiles. Chapter three provides an analysis of the results of the experimental equipment such as: universal testing machine, metallurgical microphoto and spectrophotometer. It can be seen in each of the experiments that at 21 days of accelerated aging the stone bate coating was the most efficient in combating corrosion, as well as the evaluation of the economic benefit of using anticorrosives in the profiles G for roof straps.
