Sumario: This document shows the importance of developing the appropriation of public spaces by citizens, in order to generate participation. In this sense, the study sets a communication strategie designed to engage this participation, especially among people aged between 14 and 18, in the area around "San José Park” in the neighborhood "La Magdalena", located in the southern sector of Quito in 2015. For the development of this work, a bibliographic and field study was conducted through which it was determined, as main conclusion, that in the present moments there is a strong neighborhood organization that provides a favorable environment for the implementation of actions of communication for youth participation taking, as public space, the “San José Park”. As a final element of the document, a communication strategy for the appropriation of San Jose Park is presented, in order to generate civic participation among young people in the sector.
