Sumario: This research work has the objective to propose didactic strategies to teach geometry and measurement in the second year of Elementary General Basic Education according to the requirements of the current national curriculum. The necessity of applying this proposal appears from a study made at Universidad Politecnica Salesiana in 2015. There, it was shown a deficiency in the way the content is developed. This is why it is proposed as a solution the design of new didactic strategies that help the teacher impart these contents and motivate the students to participate in class. In this way, the learning process and the academic performance will improve. About the method, it was used the methodologic proposal with the purpose to innovate a didactic tool that facilitates the teaching process of the contents of geometry and measurement of the mathematics area, from the second year. In this content, it is proposed two didactic strategies: the first named “Let’s pretend we’re architects”. It has four activities related to the content of geometric shapes identification and analysis. The second was named “Board Game: Snakes and Ladders”. It is comprised of five activities related to time (dates) measurements and they want the student to locate themselves temporarily applying logical mathematical operations. Each strategy contains a detail description and the didactic resources needed for its application. Both are appointed to the content blocks from the first quimester.
