Sumario: Gender violence in Ecuador is in all spheres of society, it does not discriminate between ages, social strata and territories. Its impacts are visible, therefore it is necessary to know the causes, effects and possible solutions to this phenomenon, the result of patriarchal and sexist societies. This work starts with identifying and describing the existing imaginaries in gender violence, from discursive forms, social constructions and the environment among young people between the ages of 14 and 18, living in the Calderón sector of the city of Quito, Ecuador. The approach part, defining the gender approach, to understand gender violence and finally identifies and describes social imaginary present among the young, object of this study. This research used a qualitative and descriptive methodology, used collection techniques such as documentary revision, realization of focus groups and semi - structured interviews in play workshops with a group of young people. The interviews allowed to raise testimonies from analogies and differences in the imaginaries about categories such as sex, gender, roles, forms of violence and rights, The data obtained allow us to conclude that young men and women who participated in the workshops do not know the differences between sex and gender, have a vague idea about traditional gender roles, which leads to reproduce them in the family and personal; However recognize some forms of violence against women, especially physical, verbal and psychological, while recognizing the need to promote the human rights of women.
