The production of red tilapia (Oreochromis sp.) is a very important industry in the Ecuador, so it is necessary to make constant innovations that help improve productivity. Currently has encouraged the use of natural extracts to enhance the growth and survival of fish. For this purpose it was decided to evaluate the essential oils of Turmeric and Lemongrass added to food in a concentration of 0.4% w / w with 8 experimental units each one with 20 fingerlings, located in the laboratories of the Universidad Politécnica Salesiana. Physical-chemical, microbiological and environmental water parameters were evaluated each week. Pelleted feed for fry # 2 with about 48% of protein, without fish oil was used. Two separate mother solutions of fish oil each one with essential oils at 5% w / w respectively were made, they were mixed with the feed in defined proportions to obtain an essential oil concentration of 0.4% w / w resulting 4 treatments (control, lemongrass, turmeric and mix of the two essential oils); treatments were performed in duplicate. The experiment lasted 18 weeks, recording weekly survival, average weight and length of each individual fry. By one way ANOVA (p <0.05) was reached to determine the diet of the mixture of two essential oils (50:50) improved the weight gain parameter, while the length parameter for no difference significant between treatments; mortality rates were similar between the different treatments. |
