The current project was designed with a sample size of 8 participants between the ages of 7 and 9 years old from the Center of Reference “La Marín”, which is part of the “Chicos de la Calle” Salesian Fundation Project taking place from March to July of 2017.
In actuality an outbreak of aggressive behaviors resulted in the creation of a program based on Behavior Modification, which lead to effectuate this piece of research where, through workshops, psychological intervention was fundamental to promote the management of assertive behaviors that endeavors to achieve the emotional self-control to decrease aggressiveness through cognitive-behavioral therapy. This therapy brings into play techniques like: token economy, emotion recognition, self-instruction training, relaxation, behavioral therapy, and feedback to help improve the development of social abilities.
During sessions numerous subjects were addressed to cope with issues like management of emotions, impulsiveness, and conflicting situations that coexist in different environments. The meetings helped confront these issues in an adaptive process through self-regulating anger strategies together with recognition of emotional intensity.
Quantitative data was obtained with the implementation of the test MESSY, in order to identify variables that would help undertake different themes that are significant to the development of this project. Furthermore, to put into words the modifications that took place after treatment, the test was repeated in order to collect a statistic analysis, and to compare the results before and after the intervention. |
