The objective of this research was to generate a model to inform the public about the levels of exposure to solar radiation, objectively, that does not generate alarms and to allow citizens to know the precautions to take depending on where it is located and the time of day in which it is located.
Thus, a statistical analysis of seven years of data from the Red Metropolitana de Monitoreo Atmosférico de Quito (REMMAQ), taken from six meteorological stations located along the city was performed. The analysis was performed on time and annual level, daily, monthly; and we sought to detect the frequency, intensity and possible changes in the behavior of solar radiation; also an analysis of the relationship between the daily maximum levels of solar radiation and daily maximum ambient temperature in order to determine possible implications of climate change is included.
Later, accepting the recommendations of the Federación Ecuatoriana de la Psoriasis (FEPSO), Instituto de Física Rosario de Argentina (IFIR) and Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), estimated between total solar radiation and ultraviolet radiation is generated on the which, due to its implications on health, have generated five types of alerts: green: low, yellow: moderate, orange: high, red: very high and purple: extreme.
With the data achieved a spatial model on ARCGIS that allows knowing the warning levels geographically in the city, which are presented in a geographic information system online on a web server Centro de Investigación en Modelamiento Ambiental CIMA is generated by Universidad Politécnica Salesiana UPS, known as Geoportal. |
