Sumario: The present study aimed to: Identify care trajectories in people with dementia in the Metropolitan District of Quito, in the period between February and July 2017. This is a quantitative approach study, non-experimental design, cross-sectional type exploratory and descriptive. The instrument used was the structured interview on the trajectories used by (Pérez 2013) in his research "Cognitive impairment, quality of life and subjective perception of aging", which explored the moment and the way in which the first symptoms were identified; when and how was the time of the first search for professional help; how the diagnosis was reached and which were the therapeutic paths followed for the treatment of dementia from the perception of the relatives, the instrument included sociodemographic data. The sample was non-probabilistic of intentional type and was constituted by 100 primary caregivers (relatives) of people diagnosed with some type of dementia. The main finding indicates that patients diagnosed with Alzheimer's or other types of dementia go through different trajectories of care because they depend on factors related to health services, the socioeconomic conditions of the family and even the phase in which the disease. Finally, dementia is considered a problem that negatively affects both the family and society.
