Sumario: This study aimed to investigate the relationship with the water, through the wilderness and of crop-commune Tocagón (San Rafael, Otavalo), and the possible survival of Andean thought on that link. The anthropological research approach considered the prospect of actors and determined fieldwork opportunity through interviews, focus groups members of the community and participation in community activities in the wilderness. From research could understand and analyze community-water ratio Tocagón. Field information and analysis in the light of the theory of practice allowed know that commoners of Tocagón perform conservation practices moorland because they consider water source for the community and place where formerly ritual performed rites to bring rain in times of drought (wakchakaray).
