The main objective of the current study is to promote the social and supportive economy as an alternative for the development within the “good living” initiative for the tenants of the San Juan and San Jose de Monjas neighborhoods. It is intended to analyze experiences and avaluate their available options for an alternative economy using the defined conceptualization and postulate that these experiences show possible paths for creating social and solidary economy spots.
As part of the City Hall Development plan for 2012 to 2022, the “Fourth Axes Productive and Solidary Quito Program” is in charge to fortify the net employment and to develop a diversified economy with several ventures. These ventures allow to consolidate and incorporate added value, innovation and competitiveness among tenants. It is indispensable to indicate that the current Metropolitan economy situation requires a characterization that allows to comprehend the real productive dynamics. Thus, the productivity initiatives must warranty an equal distribution of the profits, workload and environment conservation.
The execution of the current study allowed us to identify the influence of the strategic pillars for the implementation of the Credit Union in San Juan and San Jose de Monjas neighborhoods in Quito. These pillars objectives aim mainly to provide financial advice to members of these communities.
Based on the survey results, it could be determined that the implementation of this Credit Union has a great economic impact in both neighborhoods, San Juan and San Jose de Monjas, due to the possibilities of improving their lifestyle as a result of their cash flow increment. This extra income allows the tenants of these communities to invest in new commercial activities, increase their expenses and save some money for their future. |
