Is increasing the number of higher education institutions in the country that are preparing to implement a quality management system from the ISO 9001 standard or to aim for institutional accreditation, in order to promote quality in education and strengthen their projection and recognition in the national context; it is necessary to understand that these processes are connected to changes in organizational culture. This article presents key aspects of organizational culture in quality management processes and institutional accreditation, from methodological contributions that sociologist Carlos Eduardo Méndez Álvarez presents in his book Cultural transformation in organization, in which he identifies six factors (authority, management, communication, sense of man, rationalization and technology) that have served him as basis to establish categories from which organizational culture studies have been conducted. From these factors, and from a methodology based on the documental analysis of the reports by academic peers and quality management auditors, the authors establish a relation with the assessment criteria that the National Accreditation Council (CNA in Spanish) follows for institutional accreditation and with the requirements of the ISO 9001-2008 Standard, which allows to advance in understanding the changes that affect organizational culture when implementing such models. |
