This paper's main objective is to establish the structure of the chain of rubber in Colombia taking into account production, trade balance, prices, policies, standards, and overall analysis of the Colombian rubber industry, also discussed the links involved in the chain both nationally and internationally. This project is conducted through the collection of information from investigative nature, going to the information found in scientific papers, specialized national and international journals in the field, research by public and private entities directly and indirectly related to the rubber sector.
Given similar situations of agricultural production chains seen in other industry sectors, where key factors of advantage and disadvantage of the domestic productive against international industries are analyzed. Factors such as policies, standards, tariff barriers, new treaties, exchange rates and level of technology are now observed in the present work for the rubber production chain.
This study is based on concepts of international competitiveness found and collected by the Research hotbed Business School by (Moreno, 2009) in his article "International Competitiveness: A Business Approach", which defines the international competitiveness as the ability of a company or industry to achieve greater and better performance over its competitors in the overseas market. Thus things like that Colombia is a net importer of rubber-based products, creating business opportunities in the development of the domestic and international markets, as the country has the natural capital to develop the plantations are concluded. These factors are key to the country's competitiveness as well as other conditions observed in this study allow us to analyze how competitive can become Colombia abroad.
