Sumario: The agricultural sector is made-up of several sub-sectors such as fishing, livestock, hunting and forestry whose importance has been highlighted in the Colombian economy for years. Although his growth has not shown results according to their actual capacity, it is necessary to strengthen this sector in order make it competitive not only nationally, but also internationally. The Colombian government has recognized the agricultural sector as the head of the economic development, and, therefore, it has identified the need of analyzing and establishing variables affecting competitiveness in the international trade of cattle in the country taking into account that the competitive analysis are under influenced of the changes in this globalized world. Thus, this research project seeks to answer the question: How do regional competitiveness variables serve as an estimation tool for international trade in the beef sector in Colombia? It will be used the Analysis Regional Competitiveness variables as a tool for allowing the analysis of the different aspects such as: the economic performance, the governmental efficiency, the business efficiency and the infrastructure. Besides, it is aimed to mention some strategies to promote competitiveness and productivity in the beef. Due to the high influence of the agricultural sector in the economy, Colombian government has promoted policies that allow the proper development of livestock thanks to the support from Federación Colombiana de Ganaderos (FEDEGAN) and processes of globalization. Both characterized from the free trade agreement that has potentiated the Colombian beef sector.
