Water used directly related to the performance of an activity and in this case specifically focuses on agricultural production, which is one of the productive processes, that satisfying basic need population such as food, as well to contribute to the economic development of a country. One of the ways to assess the impact of such activities in water resources is calculate the water footprint to determine the volume of water used in a specific activity or economic sector.
The following research was by aim at formulating strategies for improvement of water consumption in the production of Feijoa (Acca sellowiana) on the farm in the municipality of Vega - Cundinamarca, by calculating the water footprint.
To comply with the above methodology divided into four phases was used: Diagnosis, balances, analysis of results and formulation of strategies and directed by the provisions of the manual entitled "The Water Footprint Manual assesment, the overall standard setting" published by Arjen Y. Hoekstra in 2011.
After making the calculations, we found a total volume of water for the production of 2,24 tons of Feijoa was 32712.35 m3, with the highest component was grey water footprint because the largest volume of water that would require culturing for dilution of excess contaminants applied.
Finally with the results we formulated two strategies focused on the application form irrigation proposing a deficit irrigation and the use of slow-release fertilizers to mitigate the impact of this type were formulated products to different resources they have contact.
