This project is a research exercise, which was conducted at three public schools in Bogotá: Colegio El Porvenir, Castilla, and José Manuel Restrepo. It was counted on the participation of two contact teachers and twelve additional teachers, who lead the centers of
interest. As a narrative research exercise it was possible to know, study, and expand the experiences of all teachers involved from their own stories. Tensions and other difficulties arising from teaching practices were discovered. To address this we employed two methods of collecting information: in-depth interviews and class observations.
From this experience we discovered certain categories that serve to structure the body of this research: educational policies, concepts, and features of teaching practice and strategy.
In addition, the results of the research led to three distinct findings: “Help or hinder: that‟s the question”, “desire and disappointment: a duality in the practice”, “The 40x40 proposal: a hardly accomplished task”, which demonstrated the existence of six factors that affect teachers involved in 40x40 project: the resistance of teachers to implement the proposal, the lack of resources and infrastructure, teachers‟ fatigue, problems with the coordination and implementation of the proposal, low wage rate, and that the context is not taken into account when the proposal is applied.
