This paper presents the results of a qualitative research, made from semi-structured interviews and participant observation, in order to characterize the cultural practice of freestyle dance called "Krumping" in the Las Palmas II Cali. From the study it was possible to describe and analyze the sociocultural practices of a group of young dancers, focusing on how this network of symbolic and emotional experiences allow, in particular: 1) be a social and individual identity, 2) compete with other groups Krumping gender, without involving violent demonstrations, 3) have a place in a group that welcomes and requires different forms of participation. |
