The Pita river presents a deterioration in water quality due to its use as a recipient of slopes of all kinds, besides existing natural pollution, for this reason the present study evaluated the physical-chemical, microbiological and biological parameters that characterize the Pita river, their ranges of variation and variables that influence water quality, based on the methods APHA ed, 22.
This study took place during the months of September 2014 to January 2015, samples were taken at the Pita River, neighborhood Selva Alegre in three different points; before, in the siege and after a discharge of sewage. At each sampling point was analyzed in situ so the parameters of pH, temperature and conductivity.
Physico-chemical parameters analyzed in the water samples were: pH, temperature, turbidity, conductivity, alkalinity, suspended solids, total solids, oil and grease, phenols, BOD 5, COD, sulfates, nitrates, phosphates, arsenic, cadmium, copper, cobalt, chromium, mercury, zinc, lead, fecal coliforms, total coliforms, and characterization of macroinvertebrate communities in CENTROCESAL laboratories. Ltda.
The analysis of the parameters aimed to know the current physical-chemical, biological and microbiological status of the Pita river, with the collection of this information it was determined whether the waters are within the limits established by the Unified Text of Secondary Legislation Ministry Environment (TULSMA) in Book VI - Annex 1, Table 12: limits for discharges to a body of fresh water.
From the results it was concluded that the situation in the Pita river is not alarming but worrisome to a future for lack of treatment to wastewater and research on water quality. |
