This article proposes a Method of Optimization by Colony of Ants (OCH) to solve the of the reactive power in the distribution systems; that will allow to determine the location and optimal dimension of a capacitor bank; the problem in the placement of the capacitor bank is to find places to install the capacitors in an electrical distribution network in order to reduce power losses in the distribution system.
The OCH is an intelligence method, powerful to solve optimization problems; inspired by the natural behavior of the ant colonies. The proposed methodology, programmed in MATLAB, is validated with the IEEE test systems of 30 nodes with the obtaining and discussion of the results; thus exposing the value of the proposed approach; in which the obtained result was satisfactory, since losses were minimized in the system and the index of voltage profiles was improved. |
