Sumario: The following manuscript presents the investigation of the implementation of multiple survivable-PON, with protection in feeder optical cables and in Central Office (CO), for a large residential-commercial area in the city of Quito. For this purpose real city maps data was retrieved from the OpenStreetMap (OSM) free-access mapping software. For the deployment costs analysis we employed the Optimal Topology Search (OTS) optimization algorithm. In the first instance, it was configured the OSM information regarding buildings and residences in the work area, in order to have a region with approximately 105 potential users. Subsequently it was evaluated the optimal deployment of PON, for the region under study was, using OTS. In order to perform a comparative analysis of the implementation costs for different PON network technologies, the implementation of GPON, XGPON and NGPON2 was compared. The results show that as the bit rate demand increases, the deployment cost increases, exponentially for GPON and XGPON, whilst for NGPON2 the deployment cost increases marginally.
