References statistics on domestic violence in our country, can determine a high tendency of abuse against women, especially from partners, becoming a problem of physical and mental health.
The types of violence whether verbal, physical, sexual or psychological cause not only depressive periods, some symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder or low self-esteem, but also a strong influence on the victim’s personality so it is possible to say that battered women share a group of personality characteristics as a result of violence.
To determine these common personality characteristics, we chose 15 women who sought counseling at the Women's Police Station in Quito, to whom Rorschach Test was applied in order to recover the needed data.
The gathered information will be analyzed from the perspective of cognitive-behavioral theory, considering the American psychologist George Kelly pioneer of cognitive theory of personality who developed the "personal construct theory" which states that human personality is conceived as a set of skills acquired through cognitive activity, giving importance to the management of concepts that organizes man for himself and explained to the world. |
