This document shows the results and learning about an intervention with women who attended at Beauty´s course in the Equity and Justice Center "Valle de Los Chillos" in order to reduce the rate of physical child abuse, because this kind of abuse is often invisible in its articulated forms of upbringing discipline.
The intervention had as conceptual reference by Salvador Minuchin, it took place looking the family as a system, that had a functioning structure given by roles, hierarchies, boundaries those regulate the interaction of each subsystem: conjugal, parental, fraternal. So it was necessary to work towards a restructuring from the conjugal subsystem, where the interactions between its members do not stand abuse that could affect the parent subsystem and the parenting style in the family.
The training process was carried out in a group space, where the participants learned basics concepts of the theoretical approach and they thought over about the patterns of interaction in the family, also they promoted changes in the parenting style, and they questioned the physical punishment as an effective resource to establish discipline, finally they improved the relationships between adults and children in the family.
In conclusion, this work provides an analysis about the experience done relating the family structure and parenting, as variables that affect each other, expressing that if you work towards the family´s restructuring also changes the parenting style that legitimizes physical punishment. |
