This thesis approaches to Quito city as a meeting of many urban imaginaries, which make tangible to the urban space’s theories, both from a geographical as human, sensory and perceptible.
Based mainly on the theories of French anthropologist Marc Augé, the Colombian philosopher and semiotician Armando Silva, the architect and researcher Fernando Carrión Mena, and the Italian philosopher Gianni Vattimo, this work makes a study of the existence of "non-places" (not just physical, but also mental and discursive), which displace the hegemony of "anthropological place" in the city, which has so far hosted the traditional identity and subjectivity. |
