Sumario: Since the early days of telephony is regarded as a novel invention, be able to hear the human voice over long distances and through a team, with the passage of time developed technology and the high demand for communication so is gave way to telephony over the internet (VoIP). VoIP is to transmit voice over IP protocol. An increase in the demand for VoIP communications has put on alert the excessive consumption of energy for this type of technology, there was born the proposed monitor, measure, and analyze the energy consumption for the optimal use of the same, without losing quality of service in communications, in what refers to the sent voice specifically, for this was a scenario of research by joining an Ethernet link point to multipoint through which, were injected with a variety of voice traffic to the consumption of energy by means of an increase in the number of calls (voice traffic), This process was carried out for each protocol IAX and SIP, with the tests performed and the data obtained the respective analysis was performed. At the end of this study, the results show that team power consumption is proportional to the amount of calls made in addition there is higher power consumption when transmitting voice in the IAX protocol traffic since this by its specifications work in stem so that requires greater consumption of energy.
