This work has the purpose of investigating and knowing about the traditional and current marriage of the Achuar people, inquiring into the elderly who live in the present because they are aware of the traditional marriage and marriage nowadays.
Today in the ceremony of marriage there are many differences between the traditional and the current, everything has changed since the new generations have been forgotten and now today they do it in another way, without taking into account that the ceremony of marriage It is like a value of our identity, culture and traditions. Formerly to get married, they already had experiences, and they already knew everything about how to make handicrafts, they were good hunters, especially the good behavior of men, so traditional marriage arrived without falling in love or talking to each other.
Formerly our ancestors were concerned that the ladies knew how to perform tasks in the house, which gave a guarantee for marriage, ensuring care for others and attention to the husband.
Another one of the ancestral celebrations, previous to the marriage, was the fast to take ayahuasca, floripondio or tobacco to have the vision of a prosperous marriage.
Today's young people no longer do that traditional form of marriage, so it is important to know the ancestral traditions so as not to forget our roots and keep our culture alive. This work, therefore, can contribute to the maintenance of the historical memory of our Achuar people. |
