Sumario: The purpose of communicative competence in learning Spanish as a foreign language (SFL) is to consolidate the communicative competence of foreigners. The issue emerged from the research project entitled Implementing Level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The methodology focuses on communicative elements and activities, rather than grammatical, as it aims, above all, to encourage the learning of Spanish as a foreign language. The result was the book entitled Comunicarse en español: la mejor opción. The article concludes with a series of activities where communicative competence is implemented in order to stimulate SFL learning and to promote the communication, listening, writing, reading comprehension of intercultural texts in foreigners.
