Sumario: Along the second half of xix century, in the southwest of Colombia, they were built at least 30 bridges in arch of brick shape: acomplex structural typology that doubtless required of an ensemble in specific technical knowledgements for its execution. Inwhat way it was then carried out and there one constructive tradition able to reach a madurity that allowed to achieve workssignificant importance? Through an investigate process that combinated a field work and the documentary archives searching,it obtained to determine its origin in the figure of an Italian priest who arrived to Popayan city in 1859, and whose practiceteachings to workers and local foreman served as base in a process of singular technology appropiation. Through the historiographicreport of the work of Serafin Barbetti and the analysis of his work positioning it among the technical culture of hisepoch it gained to determine its role as a transmitter agent of knowledgements and the adaptations that made it successful. This work is framed in an investigation line much more connected with the history of the constructive technique and its mechanismsof assimilation and diffusion.
