Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) also known as Task-Based Learning or Task-Based instruction has been around for about three decades in the list of methods and approaches for language teaching. In recent years TBLT has drawn the attention of many researchers and teachers around the world due to its approach to language teaching that encourages the use of authentic language in the classroom. Along this same line, the Ministry of Education of Colombia released the suggested curriculum for ELT recommending TBLT as one of its core methodologies for ELT in official schools. Therefore, pre-service and in-service English language teachers in the country are expected to have a good command of its implementation. To address that need, this Learning Object explores the fundamentals of TBLT and proposes a guideline for designing lessons under its principles. |
