Sumario: The purpose of this case study is to identify and describe the pedagogical model assumed and put into practice by the Velasco Ibarra Educational Unit located in the Guamote Canton of the province of Chimborazo. The pedagogical models, understood as the form of selection, organization, transmission and evaluation of school knowledge, considered for this study are the Traditional model, the Active School and the Constructivist model, each one from his pedagogical vision describes the attitude of the teacher and the student, type of content, education in values, teaching and learning methodology and evaluation techniques and instruments. The methodology is used with a mixed-type approach, describing the study population, three instruments are used to collect qualitative research data, they are, content analysis for Curriculum 2016 and PEI, classroom observation to students and teachers and the interview to managers. Giving as results and conclusions that the 2016 curriculum proposes a constructivist model and the PEI of the institution proposes an active school model and in the reality of classroom teaching there is an education of the traditional model on the way to an active school model, wanting to reach an education that contributes to the needs of the social, cultural, ecological, economic reality of the students and can reach their educational achievements according to their capacities and potential, capable of responding to the new challenges that are imposed.
