Sumario: Actinomycetes are microorganisms that they found in the limit between fungi and bacteria, they being generally Gram positive and Gram negative. They are usually distributed in nature, especially in soil, and water. The research found actinomycetes able to biotransform the sodium salt of cholic acid, it is a waste product of chemical synthesis of ursodeoxycholic acid. 53 strains of actinomycetes were isolated from samples taken in slaughterhouses of Macas-Sucúa and Machángara bank of river in the park "Las Cuadras". It was evaluated of Biotransformation capacity of the sodium salt of cholic acid of the 53 isolated strains of actinomycetes, it using techniques such as microbiology, Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (NMR). Finding the most common reaction of biotransformed the actinomycetes, it is oxidation of the hydroxyl group at position 3.
