Sumario: The present work has been developed from the effects and consequences that the closing of the school "Edison Ernesto Mendoza Enríquez" has generated in the Zumbahua parish. The institution in which the research is to be carried out is a school located in a rural sector, with a distinctly indigenous population. With the different analyzes that were carried out during this investigation, it can be affirmed that the idea of the unification of the community schools arises from the national government with the new 10-year education plan and also the rights of the education that appears in the constitution, with the intention to provide equal opportunities in terms of the academic sphere, supporting new schools with technology, and other aspects that help the student's development, also during the course of the investigation, there are other secondary causes that pushed him more at the close of school. To obtain results, surveys were applied, interviews with the people who were affected by this event, bibliographic research containing information about the treated topic was also reviewed. The results of the closure of the school were not as favorable or as expected by those who raised the idea of centralization of community schools, with the closure of the school has resulted in an increase in the number of families that have migrated, the deterioration of cultural values that brings about the reduction or perhaps even the extinction of the indigenous culture.
