This degree work is about sexual harassment and gender discrimination in the workplace. It researched two cases: in a private factory and the other a public institution. Both of them are located in Quito. This research contributed for the debate about workplace harassment and gender discrimination in the workplace. These were identified in a public institution and in a private institution in Quito, through a quantitative investigation. It was realized from January 2017 to July 2017. Two surveys were applied: HOSEL’S SURVEY (Preciado y Franco, 2014) and The Marvin Weisbord Six-Box Model (Weisbord M., 1976). The main find related to gender discrimination was that it persists towards women in assigned tasks and their relationship with their bosses. These manifestations have an effect on absenteeism and the presence of women diseases. Related to sexual harassment, it was found that women are more affected because it leads to action that causes damage to the psychological, physical and emotional dimensions. Men face verbal harassment through comments, jokes and jokes about their bodies. Women from public institutions and private companies receive invitations, threats, requests, demands and humiliations from their bosses or colleagues, for not accepting sexual relations or intimacy. |
