Sumario: The teaching of mathematics in the schools of the Achuar people, in general, do not consider the use of concrete materials of the medium for the teaching of mathematical operations such as addition and subtraction. It was necessary to carry out a study of the operation carried out in addition and subtraction without leads, which are being applied by the teachers of the Taki Educational Unit, since the fundamental basis is for children to learn addition and subtraction and then the rest of operations as the multiplication and division. The Achuar mathematical system is delimited by its cultural and socioeconomic reality. In this context, the calculation and the different forms of mathematical expression, help to face social situations of the different realities. There is a tendency to think that Western mathematics is unique, limiting the possibility of recognizing the existence of other mathematical systems in the culture that makes up our nationality. This investigation supposes in the first place, a study of the own cosmovisión of the Achuar nationality, according to its natural environment, that is to say: the interpretation, representation and / or recreation of the human and natural phenomena that allow the conformation of the different mathematical systems. Second, a study of linguistic type that allows us to analyze the mathematical structure in terms of succession and mathematical operations, located in the reality of use and application in daily life and at the end we propose a material how work should be carried out in the classroom as the methodology.
