Sumario: Ecuador multicultural and multiethnic country, which is rich in flora species permits an extensive ethno-botanic study and thanks to the ancestral knowledge of its inhabitants from the Amazon Region who have used different species of plants like antidotes to counter the harmful effects of the Bothrops atrox venom, this present research was made to prove its capacity to neutralize it. Heptanic, alcoholic and watery extracts have been made of Lonchocarpus utilis A.C Sm and Adenostemma lavenia L (Kuntze) plants. The samples were collected in Morona Santiago Province, Huamboya Town, in Chiguaza Parish and in Morona Canton, Sevilla Don Bosco Parish, and then they were transported to CIVABI laboratories in order to do tests and determine its inhibitory hemolysis activity that is caused by the venom of the snake Bothrops atrox. Quantitative and qualitative tests were done regarding chemical composition of these species and flavonoids were found that were related to the inhibitory capacity of the extracts on Bothrops atrox venom. It was determined a minimum hemolytic dose (DMIH=15.53 μg) to prove an anti-hemolytic capacity of the extracts on the venom of two vegetal species, Adenostemma lavenia L. (Kuntze) specie was the one with the highest activity.
